GRACIELA

            CIPPARONE

Grace (Graciela) Cipparone Svarre is a Canadian born artist who has lived in Mexico for more than thirty years. Her media include large scale tapestries, architectural commissions, assemblage and masks. In the late 1960’s, Grace lived in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato. She earned a grant from the Canadian government to study indigenous weaving techniques. After traveling south through the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas, she spent several years living with the Lacandon Maya in their settlement on Lake Naha. During her time in the rainforest, she worked with Lacandon artisans and fell in love.
